T-BALL: 4–6 years old. (average age 4-5). Meant for our young players who are true beginners, but age is limited due to safety concerns for the youngest players.

COAST: 5-7 years old (average age 5-6). The coach-pitch level, players generally cannot consistently catch a ball or throw to a target, but they are ready to try hitting coach-pitch balls.

FARM: 7–10 years old (average age 7-8). Some skills have developed, but players are still working on consistency. Hopefully by now players can catch fairly well (but maybe not consistently). This level does include some “kid pitch” innings each game, and more elements of the game are introduced (run limits per inning, 3 outs per inning, etc.) This level generally is also appropriate for 9-10 year olds who are true first-timers.

MINORS: 8–11 years old (average age 9-10): This is where “true baseball” starts to take form, meaning players pitch the entire game and perform all aspects of the game. Scores are kept, pitch counts are tracked, and all games will have an Umpire. Players should be able to catch somewhat consistently and begin learning about various game situations and the roles each position plays. This is also the first level where players can qualify for postseason All-Star play. Get ready for pitchers who can throw more than one pitch!

MAJORS: 9–12 years old (11-12 is the average age): Players in this level should be able to consistently throw to a target, catch the ball and have a working understanding of how the game is played. If your player is League Age 11 (see age chart linked above), and/or has already played two full seasons of Minors, they may be ready for Majors and should at least be evaluated at the Majors level.
